The following topics were discussed:
Financial Sustainability
- Our financial situation is unsustainable. Without additional funds, we can only sustain our programs and services for the seven months.
- The group needs to set a monthly donation goal.
- The group should consider paying rent quarterly to improve cash flow.
- Research new fundraising opportunities
Healthy Prudent Reserve
- To establish a financial safety net, the group should allocate $69.60 to a savings account. Moving forward, we should focus on building and preserving this prudent reserve.
Members/Volunteers
- Recent updates may need to be repeated at the beginning of group meetings.
- A list of services offered by DA needs to be circulated.
Contribute to Other Funds
- It's essential that we contribute our fair share to ensure their continued success and maintain the strong collaborations that have been so advantageous to our group
Intergroup Collaboration
- The group discussed the importance of collaborating with other Houston DA groups.
- A suggestion was made to create a "Houston DA Cares List" to help members build their DA support network.
Old Business The following old business items were discussed:
- Follow-up: NextStep Meeting Website Clarification
Although not an official resource of DA it does get its data from the DA website and does not alter the information it receives. It is okay to use.
New BusinessThe following new business items were discussed:
Current State of Business Reporting
- The group will stay on a monthly business meeting schedule. We currently meet on the 3rd Friday of the month @ 7:15 CST.
Identifying Information Gaps
- How our funds are allocated and which services they support needs to be addressed at the next group business meeting.
Defining Reporting Goals and Objectives
- Our report goal is to provide the group with accurate data on its current financial health with a focus on maintaining services.
- The objective is to break down this goal into actionable steps using available resources.
Data Requirements and Sources
- The group will maintain its current data management system by utilizing secure online bank and e-commerce statements for financial data and storing documentation on Google Cloud.
Report Format and Distribution
- The business report will continue to be distributed in business meetings, on the group blog, and through the email list.
- The group will update the 7th tradition on meeting readings and group blog to include the agenda and minutes of the last business meeting, as well as the date and agenda of the next business meeting.
Motion to Close
A motion was made to close the meeting. The motion was seconded and passed.

Financial Management
- Create a visual representation (graph) of the current allocation of group donations.
- Develop potential allocation models for group donations for review at the next business meeting.
- Transfer $69.60 from checking to prudent reserves, the savings account.
- Establish a weekly and end-of-month bank transfer schedule.
- Create a table identifying which services correspond to each fund.
Communication and Administration
- Develop a script for the weekly 7th Tradition announcement, including:
- Monthly donation goal
- Current month's donations
- Remaining amount needed
- Number of meetings left in the month
- Update 7th Tradition announcements to include information on how members can opt to designate their contributions to specific fund(s).
- Update the 7th Tradition information on meeting readings and the website, including agenda and minutes from the last business meeting, as well as the date and agenda for the next business meeting.
